This was the first (helpful) OS X oriented website I encountered when I first installed 10.0.3.

I have visited the site practically every week day since June 2001.

THANK YOU !!!!!

I seem to recall Rob being a forum member on MacRumors or MacFixIt, and announcing the new site there, back in 2000. I could be mistaken, but I think I've been visiting the site since I learned about it that way.

Hmm, according to my user info page, I've been a member since 30 Nov 1999.

Same here, I think it's something goofy. Mine is set to 30-11-99 00:00.

Geeklog never used to have a "reg date" field. So anyone who signed up before Feb 16, 2003, has a reg date of "00-00-0000." This turns into the 1999 date that you see.

There are about 24,000 such users; everyone else has a reg date.

Yea, I think it was announced on MacFixIt's forums, and it was in my sig on the various boards I particpated on -- MacNN, for one. Nowadays, all my time seems to go here, our forums, and Macworld's forums, so I'm not on the others hardly at all...

There may have even been an announcement on Macintouch way back when...

ResExcellence

Back in classic days much of the extension and application editing was done in resedit.
Many resedit walkthroughs were listed on ResExcellence.
This is where I first heard about macOSXhints as most of what they were doing in classic with resedit had OS X equivalents listed on this site.

My guess was "late Jaguar" that I became a member. I honestly can't remember. I saw Rob's explanation that the earlier GeekLog iteration of the site never recorded a registration date, which explains why my profile dates my registration at Tue, Nov 30 '99 at 12:00AM.

So I thought I'd go back and see when my first post was. I clicked on "Find all postings by Bookman" in my profile and a screen came up offering my last 10, with the familiar "1 2 3 4 Next" at the bottom. However, when I tried to click on one of the page numbers, I got a screen saying "Search Results: No matches. Your query string should have at least 3 characters. Please try again." Oh, well. It will have to remain a mystery.

I got that same error. However the solution is to add by hand the page number to list. Slow, but at least I could find that my first comment was May 18, 2001!

My list of comments had 6 pages, so change this:
  ...&datestart=&dateend=&topic...
to this:
  ...&datestart=&page=6&dateend=&topic...
and it works.
