Silence certain iPhone spam callers forever
Authored by: johnsawyercjs on Tue, May 27 2008 at 10:32PM PDT
I get a lot of calls, which I don't answer, from the same spamming numbers to my home phone--they're from pollsters, solicitors, etc. who are "legitimate", so they can't (or are unlikely) to change or mask their number--so setting their numbers to not ring, would cut down vastly on the number of times I have to walk over to the caller ID machine to see who's calling. Except that these calls are to my home phone, not my cell number. Anybody know of any non-cell phones that let you select custom ringtones? I just did a quick Google for devices that will block numbers you select, and found what looks like a good one:

Until I get something like this, I think I'll start answering these calls, and tell them they've reached my cellphone, and tell them to take me off their list. This might work even for charity spammers and political spamming, who by law are allowed to call you even if you're on the Do Not Call list.
