Exactly what I was going to say. It's always amusing to see these overcomplicated hints when an extremely simple and (I would think) obvious solution exists.

on 10.4 with a (swiss-)german keyboard, it's the "<>" key (located left of the "y") which does this single-key-reverse.
more convenient than shift-tab while holding command, i can tell you.
i don't have 10.5 to verify this, but couldn't you just type and hold command-tab to zip through the list of apps to the end? or will this wrap as it does in 10.4?
also, "h" hides the selected application while in command-tab mode, which i use quite often and haven't seen mentioned in this thread.
