Read PDF, Word, and Excel files on the iPhone via Safari

One of the first things I wanted to do when i looked at an iPhone was load up safari and point it at PDF's online. They display just fine.

I don't own one yet (am waiting for GPS either built in or a dongle) I don't know about file handling on the iphone but any web server to host the files should work as well.

I thought once I was found but it was only a dream

the hint is meant for those situations when you're unable to get online (for example, on an iPod touch when there's no wifi availlable).

I'm using my gmail account for this (works very well) as I'm afraid to jailbreak my iPod

Extra hint: you don't need to access gmail using 'pop' to read your email offline! The iPod/iphone saves all emails for offline reading if they have been downloaded. So, to read an email offline, just open it once, then disconnect.
