hmm..

Look in a new saved search file , which just used the default search criteria,
there was more than one with the path of the folder to be searched.

I found that the only one that made any difference when changed was the one for FXScope:

<key>FXScope</key>
		<integer>1396925286</integer>
		<key>FXScopeArrayOfPaths</key>
		<array>
			<string>/Users/username/Desktop</string>
<string>/Users/username/Documents</string>
		</array>
