10.5: Prevent vanishing windows after disabling Spaces

This has been mostly resolved in the update OS 10.5.2, although it has occurred twice for me using Spaces in the past three weeks with this update.

If you want to use Spaces and some strange behavior occurs, using the Control-arrow or Control-number (e.g., 1, 2, 3, 4) key combination will switch to another Space and returning to the original Space will refresh the vanished window.
