Does this work with audio files (namely AppleLossless for me)? Because if it does then you can use regular Quicktime to duplicate the behavior of the program iTunes Join (without the automation, of course).

In other words, you could join audio files into a pointer file and have iTunes reimport them to losslessly join them together.

Does anyone know how this could be AppleScripted so I could put it in an Automator action?
