10.5: Avoid a non-clickable Desktop icon bug

I too am having the "Icon's are not clickable" issue. My mouse is working fine, but my desktop files are wither un-selectable until I right click, and choose "clean up" on the desktop. Selecting Finder, Show Options seems to do the trick as well. I'm waiting on the phone now for apple support and I'm hoping I can just share the screen out to them so they can experience it first hand. If I learn anything I'll let you know.

Macbook Pro 17" 2.33 ghz 3gb RAM, Leopard 10.5.1
