10.5: Avoid a non-clickable Desktop icon bug

I get this same bug almost every time I wake my MacBook Pro up from sleep. The one thing that gets me going again, every time, is to simply open the "Displays" Preference Pane. I don't have to change anything, just opening the preference pane lets me start clicking on icons again. I then simply close the preference pane once icon-clicking has been restored.

I get this problem also - just changing the resolution of the screen to anything else, then back to what it was solves the problem for me. I use the displays menulet.
