Very good idea. The only possible problem I see with this solution is that rsync may not be able to handle hard links to directories, but only to files. The solution would work anyway but the backups would be very large.

Good point:

Can anyone do a test and confirm if leopard's rsync does handle hardlinks to directories? (And leave a comment here? ;) )
