On the other side - while I was able to make a keyboard shortcut for the "Create Archive of ... selected files" contextual menu entry of 10.4 this isn't possible on 10.5
Can anybody confirm this?

Well yes, because "Create Archive" has become "Compress", which works flawlessly ;-)
