I've never had problems with either MS IntelliPoint or Logitech Control Center. Can't see why this hint is needed, but am willing to be convinced.

I had numerous problems with external USB drives which went away when I uninstalled LCC (the latest, 2.2.2). LCC uses a controversial "Application Enhancer" framework which uses techniques not supported by Apple. I regret not being able to use LCC because I love all the cute little buttons on my MX510 mouse... YMMV, of course, especially if you don't use external USB devices, or you don't experience problems.

I just discovered that Logitech has a new version of LCC (2.4.0) which no longer installs APE application enhancer -- I'm about to try it.

try (in the shell)

osascript -e 'tell application "Finder" to reveal posix file "/"'

This will open a finder window but, if you have LCC240 installed, hit you with a bunch of error messages...

At least it did for me and so I switched back to LCC231.
