I use MacFUSE and NTFS-3G to give OS X read/write access to NTFS partitions (including that created by Boot Camp).

With these installed, it's possible to change the Windows drive's icon in the regular Get Info copy/paste fashion.

You're right. Also, installing MacFuse and NTFS-3G removes any previous icon from view. It is a lot easier to put back though.
