10.5: Kill the Dock to possibly resolve issues with Spaces

It really bugs me that Apple puts the App switcher, Exposé, Dashboard, and Spaces all in the Dock. If one of these services freezes, it is impossible to use the other services to try to work around it or even to restart the Dock. Furthermore, the Dock can't be force quit by normal means (i.e., the Force Quit item in the Apple menu). A hint on creating a system wide shortcut to reboot the Dock even when it is frozen would be a boon. I haven't checked though, so maybe one already exists.
