Seems like this has worked for a LONG time. Maybe even going back to Mac OS 9? Or maybe I'm just crazy, but I could swear I've done drag-and-drop to the Info window to replace folder icons years ago.

It didn't work for me on 10.4 when I was testing it this morning; perhaps I was doing something wrong, though.
