10.5: Save time when assigning programs to Spaces

Spaces is absolutely frustrating if you want to use some applications (for me it's mostly Finder, TextMate and Terminal) in more than one space, without having all the windows showing in all the spaces.

Just because I have Terminal open in space 1 doesn't at all mean that I want to be taken to that space when I switch to Terminal in space 3. It mostly means that I want to open a new Terminal window in space 3.

Right now I'm contemplating going back to Virtue, which is something I *really* don't want.

you dont have to just move the different terminal windows to different spaces then use "apple + terminal number". Or why dont use tabs in terminal?

I don't want to have to move the windows.

Let's take another example. I double-click on a text file in Finder. That means that I want to open that file in the space I'm currently in. But that will probably not happen. Instead I will be zapped to another space where I happened to already have my text editor open with some other file. Not what I want.
