10.5: Annotate non-PDF (raster) images in Preview

I am seeing some strange behavior with Preview when trying to annotate non-PDFs. I can add the toolbar button, and switch between tools, but nothing happens on-screen.

Additionally, after I try to do something with the annotate tools, when stretch the window wider, I get weird garbled images of the windows behind the image I am working on.

I also noticed that Preview attempts to connect to the Internet when using the Annotate tools, I see this with Little Snitch's popup window.

OK I figured this one out myself:

Turns out it was caused by a 3rd party color picker I had installed some time ago: Mondrianium (uses Adobe Kuler as a color picker).

Deleting it fixed everything, and just to test I installed the newer version, which worked as well.
