Avoid repetitive repagination in long Word documents

If you are writing long structured documents, can I suggest that you look at DocBook? You might (or might not) find it more convenient than Word. It frees you entirely from worrying about how the document will look when you are editing it, and does cross-references and generated content very well. There is perhaps a bit of a learning curve though - especially if the supplied stylesheets are not to your taste.

My favourite editor for doing DocBook is XMLMind XML Editor.

The purpose of writing is writing, not programming.
