10.5: Make CopyPaste-X work in all Spaces

The problem is that when CopyPaste (from Script Software) launches, Spaces is already running, and somehow does not allow CopyPaste on all Desktops. You can substitute this AppleScript at login to make things work correctly:

tell application "CopyPaste-X" to launch
delay 20
tell application "System Events" to tell spaces preferences of expose preferences
  set app_bindings to application bindings
  set |com.peter_hoerster.copypaste| of app_bindings to 1
  set application bindings to app_bindings
  set |com.peter_hoerster.copypaste| of app_bindings to 65544
  set application bindings to app_bindings
end tell

Here's how to implement it:

Open Script Editor, paste the above script, save it as an Application
In CopyPaste's Preferences, disable launch at login
Open the Accounts System Preferences panel
Remove CopyPaste from Login Items
Add your saved script to Login Items
Logout, and back in to see it work

Note that there is a 20 second delay to allow CopyPaste to be fully launched before "re-Spacing" it. Also note that this script can be modified for any program; just replace the com.peter_hoerster.copypaste BundleID with the one from your desired program.

Is this a tip for CopyPaste and yType? If so, there's a beta of the new CopyPaste Pro which is built for Leopard and has solved the Spaces issue presuming you have it in the Spaces Pref Pane and "Every Space" assigned. There may be a few bugs left but the new CopyPaste Pro has been extensively beta tested for nearly half a year while the feature set was refined and bugs squashed. It's looking good.

You know, just when I think I'm getting something out of this blog there's yet another extraneous interruption from the ubiquitous "robg." :-(

robg: Why don't you write all the hints, then we wouldn't have to see these fillers at the end of each hint.

The hints are great - I have incorporated many into my Mac experience but I just have to say that a totally useless and non-informative "robg" comment like the one above just leaves a sour taste.
