I'm sure some will appreciate it, but by and large Input Managers = Bad. Every time there is a Safari, WebKit, or OS update there's a slew of reports of crashes and other bad behavior that is traced back to input managers or "haxies". They're the INITs of OS X.

I just want to second the other commenter and point out that Input Managers are NOT Plugins, they are hacks. You can read details here: http://www.macjournals.com/news/inputmanagerhacks.html.

And to add to all of this, for me, they most always never work. SIMBL or Input Managers just fail to do anything at all.

I recently un-installed Logitech Control Center, which apparently causes a lot of problems with extension/plug-in-type applications, so they might work for me now.

But Firefox Beta 5 rocks so hard (with nearly all my favorite extensions now working) that I doubt I'm going to switch to Safari anytime soon, negating the need for any of these hacks.

Isn't this the same functionality as left-clicking the close button of the tab?

Oh, this is a godsend! I was growing so frustrated with only having the option of clicking the tab close button, or right-clicking and choosing "Close Tab," or pressing command-W, to close my Safari tabs.

Finally, there's an unsupported hack which provides me with a fourth tab-closing method in Safari! And all I have to do is give up the use of my middle button for any other services, like Exposé, Dashboard, or Spaces!

Hallelujah, saints be praised!

i think i would rather assign my middle button to close any window than to go SIMBL. ew.
