Make the iPhone say who's calling iPhone
Now with the ability to create new ringtones in GarageBand, just record yourself saying the names of the people calling you most, then create ringtones with you saying that name, and add a ringtone following that in GarageBand. Share that as ringtone, and then assign the ringtones to the respective people on your iPhone. And voila, suddenly the iPhone will audibly announce the boss is calling or it's mommy!.

That all assuming you want everyone in a 30-foot radius to know who's calling you.

i think the idea of this hint is that many iPhone users use it as music player having the actual phone in their pockets and answering calls by clicking the mic. great hint and i'm going beyond!

Better yet, have them record their *own* voices.

"Hey dude, pick up the phone, it's me..."

This "hint" kinda sounds like a gimme, being that I have either done this, or seen it done for many years on any phone that handles MP3 ringtones.

I also agree with the one of the replies. Ya, I really do not need my phone broadcasting (in my own voice no less) someones calling. Ringtones and their users can be annoying. Its a "hey look at me!!!" complex. Now those are saying, "Hey! Look who's calling me!! I'm important!!"

Its a good hint, though pretty darned old if you ask me, or anyone who has ever played with MP3 ringtones.

I did it. I use the computers digital voice and had it announce a few family members. However, I put a bit of spin on it. When my wife calls, the phone announces "The president is calling and needs your help", or when my brother calls it announces "Agent 007, I have your next assignment, please answer". It gets the heads to turn in the office. I enjoy playing with it.

Use a computerized voice instead

You can use Verbalize (freeware) to have your computer say something. This could be more interesting than saying it with your own voice; to those who don't know, it would seem as though your phone were actually using live text-to-speech. Extra funny with the voice Trinoids.

Verbalize can be found here:
