10.5: Finder copies respect selected file order Desktop
Well, the title says it all. For example, if you select items 01.jpg, 02.jpg, 03.jpg in the Finder and then copy, the order on the clipboard will be 01.jpg, 02.jpg, 03.jpg. However, if you select 03.jpg, 01.jpg, 02.jpg and copy, you'll have them in that order on the clipboard. You can sort it anyway you want ... 1, 3, 5, 2, 4, 6, etc.

This is extremely useful for me. No more rearranging attachments' order in Mail.app, for example.

[robg adds: In prior OS X releases, this is how it worked in column view mode, but not the other view modes. In 10.5, it seems to work in all view modes, based on my limited testing this morning.]

Not true Rob, at least in my setup, if you in 10.4.10 select 2, 4, 6, 1, 3, 5 and hit copy even in column view you will have in clipboard 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.

In 10.5.1 you'll get 2, 4, 6, 1, 3, 5.

Hmm, I never thought to hit copy for this. For such a long time I've been annoyed by the fact that dragging files from the Finder into Terminal wouldn't put them in list order (always something like 2,4,3,1). And using copy instead pastes the file names with escapes perfectly in selected order!

On the pasteboard yes. But Finder normally copies backwards for the actual file operations. Check the inodes and you'll see. Or better yet: select in the attachment file dialog and see what order they come up in your mail composition window. It should be "LIFO".
