Take a Photo Booth picture without the flash Apps
If you hold the Shift key while taking a photo in Photo Booth, you'll disable the flash. This can be useful for photographing highly reflective objects.

You can combine this with the Option key (see this hint) to avoid the three second delay and disable the flash.

Hmmm. Doesn't work for me. Is this Leopard only?

Probably this is Leopard only. I've not tried it in Tiger.

It only seems to work with the right Shift key, not the left one.

Is there a way to make this the default behavior (not having to hold shift to disable the flash)? On my new iMac, the flash is way too bright and it ends up ruining all of the pictures taken.

I have found the flash to make Photo Booth almost unusable. It's so strange that the default behavior would be to snap a picture that looks nothing like what you've just previewed in natural light and decided to keep. Flash should be reserved for when the user takes a picture without it and decides that the ambient light wasn't sufficient. Anyway, I'm greatly relieved to find a way to disable the flash, even if it requires me to keep a finger on the keyboard.

NICE, i needed to do this the other day and ended up running SleepDisplay immediately after clicking take photo. Shift worked for me.

Holding option removes the countdown but shift, ctrl, nor command stop the flash.

Just take a screen shot with command-shift-4 if you don't want the flash.
