If you try and clone a machine through FireWire and repartition the drive mounted in Target Disk Mode, it will use the Apple Partition Scheme (in Tiger 10.4).

Be careful, because this could cause problems for you when trying to reboot after cloning a Leopard volume.

Hmmm! That shouldn't matter since Leopard on an APM volume will boot an ICBM (Intel-chip-based Mac). You just can't install Leopard (and maybe even Tiger) onto an ICBM, using the install disk, unless it's using the GPT.

That is *exactly* what happened to me. I cloned my old drive to a bigger one using Superduper and then after putting in the new drive, I attempted to install Leopard. Couldn't go on after that. :(
