Reveal hidden emoticons in Skype Apps
Nothing fancy, but nice. Control-click on the Skype icon and choose Show Package Contents from the pop-up menu. Navigate into Contents -> Resources -> Emoticons. Control-click on Animated Emoticons.SkypeEmoticonset and choose Show Package Contents again. In the new window that opens, down at the bottom you'll find Emoticons.plist. Open it with a text editor (back it up first), and make sure Skype isn't running.

Now scroll down to the end of the document and find the first emoticon with the line <key>Hidden</key> (starting after the emoticon "star"). Simply delete the lines...
<key>Hidden</key>
<true/>
...under every hidden emoticon, save the file, and you're done. The hidden emoticons will now show as a regular option in Skype. The Emoticons may vary depending on your version of the program.

Pretty good one, I have tried without any problems. Just wondering if I can add my own animations ... tried but kind of not working.. once all saved and restarted, I don't get to see the pop up window with the icons..
I know, doing something wrong :) any hint?
Thx!

Reveal **animated** emoticons in Skype
Authored by: SinceEBCDIC on Sat, Nov 22 2008 at 8:34AM PST
I have a similar problem. I can't see any **animated** emoticons; Mac rev 2.7.0.330.

My son, using a slightly earlier rev, sees them animated in -- I believe -- both (1) the pop-up menu and (2) in the IM body before he sends it to me.

What have I cleverly disabled, sometime ago in the mists of time?

Can we use the secret codes to reveal the emoticons? I found a list of codes for the hidden emoticons on this page http://www.sherv.net/hidden-skype-emoticons.html and it says to just type them into the chat. Is there any difference between the methods?

"Reveal hidden emoticons in Skype" Update version LoL

Ya it was a nice try dude, If u have a Xcode then u can open that file with Xcode Rather than open in Textedit and change hidden Emoticons.

Actually u have to change the both of files in those two.

AnimatedEmoticons.SkypeEmoticonset
Emoticons.SkypEmoticonset

..go to both of those files. Open those files that have .plist extensions and open in textedit. click command + f then Copy this to "Find"

Hidden

then for the "Replace with" just type a space, not space word just space... then click "Replace All" that will make it error free and faster way to do.. ;) good luck...
