Save all Mail attachments via easy drag and drop Apps
I just noticed something new after years of Mail.app usage. We all know that you can drag attachments out of the mail window to your Desktop. And we all know there's a little Save button right beneath the email header. If you get an email with lots of attachments, you could select all of them and drag them to your Desktop, or you could use the Save button to save them all to where you wish.

But did you know that dragging the little paper clip icon, as seen at right, to the Desktop (or any other place) results in all attachments being saved to that location? I did not until today!

Oh, that is really cool!
Especially that you can actually drag the paperclip to an application in the Dock and it will open with that application!
So, for instance, I just dragged a paperclip with 12 photos from my father to iPhoto, and it opened iPhoto and imported the photos!
Thanks,
Mike

I think with photo attachments, you just hold down the save button to get a save menu (that's why it has a triangle), and on that menu is an option to import photos into iPhoto directly.

Recently, I need to roll out all the attachment of my emails (over 1500), I find a way to do it.

1. Sort the mail by sender and attachment;

2. Select a group of mail of reasonable attachment size;

3. Click the "Forward" Button;

4. Save the draft;

5. Go to "Draft Folder" and locate this "forwarded" mail;

6. Save all the attachment to the folder that I assign.

Actually, I also find a way to group print all mails. After sorting the mails and group selecting them, PDF print them into a folder. Then use the "Combine PDFs" Automator action (downloaded from MacOSX download) to combine them.

I use the above method to roll out all my mail and let someone to print them out.

Love Apple, only limitation is imagination.

Mail now stores all attachments in ~/Library/Mail Downloads which should make your life easier (though I think this first started with Tiger's version of Mail).

Hmm, the hint was submitted by me and I was logged in when doing so, but it says "Submitted by Anonymous". Not that I need credit for it but maybe a bug in the new site version?

Have fun!
