Keep track of purchases from the iTunes Music Store Apps
I don't know about you, but I like to keep track of the tunes I buy from the Apple Music store. To do this, I create a new smart playlist. Select File -> New Smart Playlist, and under "Match the following condition," choose "Kind" "contains" "Protected AAC Audio File."

I name it iCrack in honor of Shawn King's Internet Radio show "Your Mac Life"; that's what he calls the iTunes Music Store!

[robg adds: Ironically, I did this same thing just the other day. The iTunes Music Store creates a "Purchased Music" playlist automatically, but I managed to highlight it and hit delete (whoops). With the new smart playlist (make sure you check Live Updating to have it updated each time you purchase a new song), I always know exacly how much money my iCrack habit is costing me -- and more importantly, it makes it quite easy to create sub-playlists for burning the purchased tunes to a CD.]

Irony is probably the most misused word in the english language.

What we're talking about here is coincidence.

I'd love to get some iCrack, but the way my home music system is set up, I have 150GB of MP3s on one server that streams the music out to more than 3 computers, so I can't use any ITMS files. Oh well.

The iTunes Music Store creates a "Purchased Music" playlist automatically, but I managed to highlight it and hit delete (whoops).

I had done this too when I deleted and repopulated my entire library from my server. You can get "Purchased Music" back by simply clicking on "Advanced -> Check for Purchased Music..."

Didn't work for me... yeah, the music is still in my library, but it's not in the "Purchased Music" (green) playlist. Choosing "Check for Purchased Music" as you suggest doesn't bring it back.

Creating a new smart playlist (as the tip suggests) does.

I don't get it. It doesn't populate the list. But I still have the original one. Do I have to drag them in? If so, what good is it?
