Hmmm.... it is a nicer way to adjust volume, but you have to
have the cursor over the little window in order for it to work. It
would be nice if it worked whenever iTunes has focus, regardless
of mouse position.

'scuse thickness, but how do you make this work? I tried holding the mouse over all sorts of parts of the iTunes interface, and nothing seems to happen.

Now I get it :-/ The window has to be minimized for this to work (click the green traffic-light button).

The pointer must also be positioned over some part of the
minimized iTunes window.

I am seeing this all the time now... it was happeing when using
the scroll wheel... pretty much anything in iTunes causes it.

A reference to NSCarbonWindow would presumably indicate that
iTunes 4 is the first major hybrid Carbon & Cocoa app on the
market.

For some reason (probably something I've set) with my MS
IntelliMouse Explorer, I have to push down on the scroll wheel to
make this work.

OR-

You can just use USB Overdrive or equivalent to map your scroll
wheel, or any mouse button, to give the keyboard shortcut cmd-up
arrow or cmd-down arrow for volume whenever iTunes is the
foremost app.

I just install xmms today. Although i love iTunes as an app, I was shocked that xmms has noticeably better sound. I'm not an audiophile, but there is hiss when playing mp3s on iTunes and xmms has much better overall clarity with the esound plugin. I tested using mp3s encoded by iTunes. Does anyone else agree?
