Sort of old news, this has been a \"solution\" since at least the550/667 series was introduced. This tip didn\'t work for me, despite multiple efforts. I think it may work for some TiBooks which REALLY suck w.r.t. Airport reception. My TiBooks has never REALLY sucked, it just never been nearly as good as my wife\'s iBook or my old Lombardo with 3rd party wireless card. Mine reception falls off about 20-30 feet shorter of iBooks and external cards. Resetting power manager and other tips around the web didn\'t make much difference either. The external Airport antenna helps a little for all our computers and I certainly applied that once I was out of warranty.

If you really want to do this, you can actually take off the whole bottom case (as if you were installing the Airport card in the first place), and push BOTH antennas outward (carefully using a thin flat tool of some kind). I find that that makes my airport reception optimal (though still disappointing). Here's a question, though: I've found that after doing this, within a few weeks to a few months, the antennas fall back in, and then I have to take off the case, push 'em out again, etc. etc. Has anyone found a way to make 'em STICK in their flush position? Is there some kind of glue or something that'd be safe to use?
